Jean Paul Bondoux

The Chef

Jean Paul Bondoux comes from Luzy, in the Bourgogne area of the Morvan region, one of the most important Celtic settlements in France. He was born on November 7, 1948, and travelled to Paris at 16 years of age, seeking an opportunity.

He began his career in the kitchens of the Hôtel Napoleón where he learned brasserie techniques.

Towards the end of 1979 he travelled to South America, stopping in Punta del Este at El Palmar Restaurant. In 1993 he decided to cross the River Plate, and opened the doors of La Bourgogne Restaurant at the Alvear Palace Hotel of Buenos Aires.

He is a member of the French Cuisine Academy, and Argentine Judge for the selection of the Bocuse d’Or.

He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Ministry of Agriculture of his country, France, for the promotion of French cuisine in South America.

The French Revolution - July 14
Every year Jean Paul Bondoux, the most well-known French chef in the city of Buenos Aires, celebrates the French Revolution with an extra special evening.

On the 14th of July Jean Paul Bondoux creates a special menu of the traditional Gallic cuisine accompanied by French wines and champagne: a colourful night at the Alvear Palace Hotel with live music, gifts, exquisite dishes and a comprehensive wine list.

Beaujolais
Every year, all over the world, the new wine of the first harvest is presented on the third Thursday of November. In Argentina, Jean Paul Bondoux joins the celebration with the Feast of Beaujolais Nouveau. It is a great occasion to enjoy an exceptional menu at La Bourgogne Restaurant of the Alvear Palace Hotel.

On December 24, Jean Paul Bondoux opens the doors of La Bourgogne to celebrate Christmas Eve with a magnificent dinner, specially designed for the occasion.

La Cave, the famous wine cellar of La Bourgogne Restaurant, is ideal for corporate or private meetings of up to 40 guests. From tastings to dinners, or even events with floor shows, enjoy Jean Paul Bondoux’s exclusive cuisine. It is a place to share a unique moment at the best restaurant in Buenos Aires.
It has a capacity for 30 guests at an imperial table and up to 40 guests at round tables.

The Taste de Vins room of La Bourgogne restaurant at the Alvear Palace Hotel is a unique place in Buenos Aires. Delicious wines and cheeses can be tasted there, matured and selected by our chef Jean Paul Bondoux, and our Sommelier.
